Recipe name: Melt-in-your-mouth dreaminess! Pokemon Ball Daifuku” with Sparkling Fruits and Enchanting Gyuhi

Concept:This is a visually pleasing fruit daifuku in the shape of a cute Pokémon ball. Fresh seasonal fruits and slightly sweet white bean paste are hidden inside the glutinous melt-in-your-mouth Gyuhi. One bite will bring smiles to the faces of children and adults alike.

Ingredients (for 4 pieces)

Material name amount
Ingredients for Gyuhi
refined rice flour 100g
sugar 50g
water (esp. cool, fresh water, e.g. drinking water) 150ml
Potato starch (for beating flour) proper quantity
sweet white bean paste 200g
strawberry (esp. the garden strawberry, Fragaria x ananassa) 4 pcs.
kiwi one (object)
Canned oranges (or fresh oranges) 4 bunches
black cocoa powder 1/2 teaspoon

way of making

  1. Let the adventure begin! First, let’s make the main ingredient of Daifuku, mochi mochi gyuuhi. Put the shiratama flour, sugar, and water in a heatproof bowl and mix well with a whisk until there are no lumps. The key is to mix carefully so that the shiratama flour dissolves thoroughly.
  2. Heat the mixed dough in a microwave oven (600W) for 1 minute. Remove the dough from the microwave and mix vigorously with a wet wooden spoon. When the dough becomes white and hard, heat it again for 1 minute and mix, and repeat the process until the dough becomes a transparent rice cake (3-4 times as a rough guide). You will find that the dough becomes stickier and more elastic with each mixing!
  3. When the gyuuhi is done, spread it out on a starch-floured bat while it is still hot. While being careful not to burn yourself, quickly roll it out with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 3 mm. The trick is to work quickly, because if the gyuuhi cools down, it will be difficult to handle.
  4. Once the gyuhi has been rolled out, punch out four pieces in a round mold about 8 cm in diameter. Gather the remaining gyuhi, add a small amount of black cocoa powder, and knead well to make black colored gyuhi.
  5. Next, go to the climax of the excitement! Prepare the fruit and white bean paste. Remove the stems from the strawberries, peel the kiwi and cut them into quarters, and remove the mandarin oranges from the bunches. Divide the white bean paste into 4 equal portions and roll each portion out thinly to enclose the fruit. Wrap the fruit carefully so that the white bean paste gently embraces the fruit.
  6. Now comes the climax! The fruit wrapped in white bean paste is placed on top of the rounded white gyuuhi, and the edges of the gyuuhi are gathered together in the center of the fruit. The secret to a beautiful finish is to tightly close the edges so that no air can enter. Gently shape it with the palm of your hand.
  7. Stretch black colored gyuhi into long, thin strips to make the “belt” portion of the Pokemon Ball. Wrap it around the center of the Daifuku and lightly press down to adhere. Additionally, make two small round black buttons and place them in the center of the belt to complete the perfect Pokémon ball Daifuku!
  8. If you refrigerate it a little, the gyuuhi will settle down and taste even better. Now, please enjoy this special time with your homemade Pokemon Ball Daifuku!

This is the secret to the delicious taste! Key Points

When heating the gefu in the microwave, enjoy the way the dough changes with each stirring. When it starts to become sticky, mix it in thoroughly for a smoother texture. Also, when wrapping the fruit, the trick to creating a beautiful looking daifuku is to stretch the gefu firmly and close it carefully so as not to let any air in. Please add black cocoa powder in small amounts and adjust the blackness to your liking.
