While celebrity names, social affairs, and entertainment-related words dominate the top of the list, seasonal and eventful words such as “Trendy Word of the Year 2025,” “FNS timetable,” and “Lawson grab bag” are also attracting attention. In particular, “Lawson Fukubukuro” makes us aware of consumer behavior during the year-end and New Year holidays, and can be read as suggesting a growing interest in gifts and home treat sweets. Stardust Amber Sugar Jewelry Box ~Gifts from the Sparkling Universe
Inspired by “ET Day” on December 4, the mystery and sparkle of the universe is expressed in amber sugar, an edible jewel that looks great on social media. The contrast between the crunchy texture when you put it in your mouth and the melted texture when you swallow it is a special sweet that stimulates all five senses.
Ingredients (easy-to-make portions)
| Material name | amount |
|---|---|
| granulated sugar | 250g |
| water (esp. cool, fresh water, e.g. drinking water) | 100ml |
| agar-agar | 4g |
| Food coloring (blue, purple, pink, or other color of your choice) | small quantity |
| Alazan (star or pearl shaped) | proper quantity |
| Flavoring (lemon juice, vanilla essence, etc.) | Small amount to taste |
way of making
- Step 1: Build the foundation of the universe.Place water and agar agar powder in a saucepan, mix well, and bring to a boil over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and continue stirring for 1-2 minutes until the agar powder is completely dissolved. The key is not to be impatient here.
- [Step 2: Birth of a sweet star. When the powdered agar is dissolved, add the granulated sugar all at once and stir until dissolved. When the mixture becomes transparent and slightly thickened, turn off the heat. This is an important process that determines the brilliance of the amber sugar.
- Step 3: Galactic coloring.Divide the resulting agar liquid into several heatproof containers, add a small amount of food coloring to each and mix well. Try to adjust the shade of color for a gradation. You can also add lemon juice or vanilla essence to taste.
- [Step 4: Sprinkle with twinkling stardust.Pour the agar liquid of each color into a flat bat or mold (a plastic container is also OK), and gently spread it out so as not to mix the colors too much. For a more cosmic effect, pour in several colors at random to create a marbled pattern! Sprinkle some arazine to create sparkling stardust.
- [Step 5: Wait quietly for the right moment.Allow to cool and harden at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Although it will solidify faster if placed in the refrigerator, room temperature is recommended because sudden temperature changes may prevent crystallization on the surface.
- Step 6: Cut out the gemstone. When completely hardened, remove from the mold and cut into desired shapes with a knife. Cut freely into dice, rhombuses, irregular crystal shapes, etc., to enrich the expression of the “jewel”. The sound of the clacking sound when cutting is also a joy that only handmade jewelry can bring.
- Step 7: The Magic of DryingPlace the cut amber sugar on a cookie sheet lined bat and let it dry in a well-ventilated place. This is the magic process that produces the best part of amber sugar, the crunchy outside and the pulled texture inside! The drying period is about 2 to 7 days. When the surface becomes white and crystallized, it is a sign of completion. Don’t be in a hurry, but check on it every day.
This is the secret to good taste!
The contrasting textures of the crispy outside and the soft and pliable inside are the charm of amber sugar. In particular, do not rush the drying process, but take your time in a well-ventilated place. Also, the key is to add food coloring in small amounts to find the desired shade. Sprinkling space-themed alazan on top of the sugar will make it even more social network-worthy.
The result is a sparkling amber sugar jewelry box that looks as if it were brought back from outer space by ET!

How was it? ET also fascinates! Stardust Amber Sugar Jewel Box” will surely be a special experience for all, from the process of making it, to the beauty of the finished product, and of course, the excitement of eating it. It takes a little time to dry, but that is also one of the best parts of making them by hand. You will surely look forward to seeing the amber sugar changing its appearance little by little every day.
It is the perfect surprise for family and friends, or even as a reward for yourself. We hope you will try to create your own sparkling jewelry box at home while thinking about the magnificence of the universe.
